Lakers beat Miami, extend winning streak to 10
Jordan Farmar scored a career high 24pts & Kobe added 21pts & 8 assists to lead the Lakers to a 106-88 victory over Miami. L.A is now 24 games above .500 and still lead the Western conference.
Once again the Lakers played perfectly as a team, dazzling the sellout crowd with some great extra passes.
Gasol & Odom each poured in 13pts and 11rbds; Walton had 9pts & 11rbds and Turiad added 7 & 11 - making the first time L.A had four players with at least 10rbds in the same game since november 1989.
L.A is now 11-1 since acquiring Gasol and look to close out February with a 13-1 record with a win at Portland on Friday night.
Miami coach Pat Riley spoke highly of his former team: " I think it’s a very mature team, from the standpoint of young players getting a lot of playing time and developing very quickly. I think Phil has done a great job offensively with them and getting Pau Gasol puts them over the top. I love Turiaf, then when Bynum comes back, they’ll be even better. And, or course, they’ve got King Kobe. So that’s pretty good ."
L.A is now more than ever a serious championship contender behind one of the league deepest bench, two all star caliber players in Odom & Gasol, a promising young center and the best player in basketball.
KB who has never been that happy since his last championship in 2002: "We’re really having a good time playing with one another. It makes the season that much more enjoyable".
