Week review: injury, triple double, Bynum & the Spurs
Pretty good week for the Lakers: 4-0 record that included big wins vs possible contenders Cleveland & San Antonio.
And the week didn't seem to start well though with Kobe dislocating the ring finger on his shooting hand less than two minutes into the game vs the Cavs. But Kobe's a warrior and his 20pt-12ast effort lead L.A to a 105-88 win over Lebron James' Cavaliers.
The only road game was @ the Clippers in a showdown between the thwo L.A teams. Kobe recorded his 2nd triple double in three games with 18pts 10rbds & 12asts but Andrew Bynum topped that. L.A young center had a career high 42pts + 15rbds & 4blks.
Drew on his big night: “If feels very good. I was able to get a lot of easy buckets. Kobe was Kobe Nash out there tonight. The ball was coming my way a lot. I was able to just get a lot of touches and get comfortable."
Just 24 hours after his big game, Bynum continued to impress with a 23pt 14rbd effort vs the Wizards. Kobe scored only 11pts on his 81pt 3rd anniversary but L.A rout Washington 117-97.
Kobe was selected to start the All star game for the 11th straight time while P.Jackson will coach the Western Conference team. P.Gasol is expected to be selected as a reserve by the coaches. We're waiting for them to pick Shaq too and watch him & Kobe played together again under Zen Master!
Hosting the Spurs in a rematch of last year's western conference finals, the Lakers send a message, getting an impressive 99-85 win over San Antonio. Kobe scored 22pts but didn't have to play in the 4th. Bynum played well again Duncan, posting 15pts 11rbds & 4blks.
For the 1st time in his career, Bynum earned the western conference player of the week honors. Leading L.A to a 4-0 record, Drew averaged 23.5pts 11.5rbds & 2.25blks per game.
L.A still is the n°1 team in the West with a 35-8 record. The Lakers will face the Bobcats on Tuesday before a 6 game road trip.
