Lakers are 7-0, best start since 02 season

After limiting New Orleans to a 35pt first half, the Lakers found themselves ahead by 19 with less than 9 minutes to play. Fisher & Bynum were leading the team to an unexpected blow out. With 1min30 remaining, the Hornets were a basket away to tie the game in a playoffs like atmoshpere.

That's when Kobe delivered. Playing perhaps his worst game of the season, Kobe made his biggest basket so far.  With the Lakers leading only 83-80 and with J.Posey all over him, he drilled a tough 3 pointer to make it a two possession game. Finaly, the Lakers won 93-86 vs the Hornets to become the only undefeated team this season.

" I just wanted to shoot it in his face. I knew it was going to be a tough shot because I had Posey draped all over me, so I just needed to focus on the basket and try to put it in.'' KB24

About the shot and Kobe's ability to deliver in clutch time, D.Fisher (20pts - 4 threes) said: " I'm never surprised to see him do anything. He's one of those rare guys in the history of the game that I think can actually make the ball go in. ... Mentally, he's able to lock in on that rim and get the ball in the basket. That's what separates him from some of the best to ever play.''

Kobe was 4/14 shooting before his big shot. A.Bynum had a solid effort with 14pts 8rbds & 4blks for the Lakers, which never trailed and lead by as many as 23.
The Lakers are off to the best start since going 7-0 in the 2002 season - the last time they took home the NBA championship. They won 16 of their first 17 games and defeated the New Jersey Nets 4-0 in the NBA finals.
